Monywa to Mandalay, Myanmar June 2016

Dag 21.

Borgmester i Mandalay. En imponerende bro med mange besøgende.

Vi døjer alle med
varmen her, 35 grader og meget fugtigt.

5th June. Distance 130 km.

We left our beautiful hotel at 9.30 am, for some sight
seeing, and a short drive to Mandalay.

We visited the Sambuddhe Tempel in Monywa.
The Sabumddhe Tempel  - Sambuddhe templet

This beautiful structure, which has 5.82.373 Buddha’s, is the best Buddhist temple, we have
visited so far. These statues are impossible to count, even though I thought
5.82.373 Buddha’s was a bit too much in one place. They had disco Buddhas,
sitting Buddha’s, miniature Buddha’s, black Buddha’s etc.
We then drove to a beautiful garden, where there were 1000
Buddha’s and 1000 Banyan trees. I did not count these, but it was a very
peaceful place.

After a short uphill drive (very steep), we visited the
tallest Buddha Statue in Myanmar,
124 meters. This Buddha is pretty impressive and tall.  Next to him, was a shorter version of a
sleeping Buddha. I had enough of Buddha’s for one day.

Our next stop, on our way to Mandalay, was the famous U Bein bridge. This
is the longest wooden, teak tree bridge in the world. (1,2 km). This bridge was
next to a beautiful lake and I just did not have the energy to walk across the
bridge. The temperatures today were 35 degrees, humid, hot and sticky.

Drove to Mandalay, the 2nd biggest town in Myanmar, and checked into our hotel.
Went window shopping this evening, and soon found out, that any imported goods, in Myanmar, cost
almost double of our Indian prices.
