Dag 33. Chengdu til Ruoergai, 455
km
busser.
Lots of traffic - Megen trafik

Sikke en flot tur
igen i dag.

The Tibetan colours - De tibetanske farver

17th June, distance
455 km, driving time 9 hours
Left at 9.30 this morning. Getting out of Chengdu ,
the 4th largest city in China was a nightmare. I had to
have one eye fixed on the GPS, and one on the rear-view mirror, so Louis could
follow me. After a tedious 30 min, we finally left Chengdu , without a scratch.

Hit a highway for 65 km, with miles and miles of green houses
on both sides of the road. The town Chengdu
is situated in a valley, surrounded by mountains, and as soon as we reached the
highway, we opened up Blackie and blasted the music.

The fantastic, 4 lane motor road ended after 65 km, damn,
and we crawled up a mountain highway, of just 2 lanes. It was tedious driving
up the mountains, because of heavy traffic, as we had to overtake a zillion
busses.
It took us the next 7 hours of driving though mountainous passes,
when we finally hit the Tibetan grasslands. What a sight.
Grass lands - Højlandet
Tibetan tent - Tibetansk telt
Miles and miles of grasslands, with mountains surrounding them. Tibetans, nomads, have pitched up there tents, with grazing Yaks on and off the road, but mainly on the grass lands. We finally reached Ruoergai, at 6.30 pm, after a tiring day.
