Cows and goat on the road - Køer og geder på vejen
tilladelse til at komme her.
Ready to leave Guwahati - Klar til afgang
30.5. Distance 352 km, driving time 9 hours
We left Guwahati at 9 am, and reached Kohima in Nagaland at
6.15 pm.
Today was a long, long but beautiful drive. The first part
of app. 150 km was on a 4 lane highway, but again speed eluded us, as we could
not average more than 40 km /hour. Everybody uses the 4 lanes as a 2 way
highway, to top it all it seems like everybody owns a least 5 cows and 10 goats
each.
Car in the wrong lane - Bil på den forkerte side af vejen
The landscape we passed through seemed to be very fertile
and again reminded me of our Malnad area.
Lush green area - Frodig område
We soon got into a single lane highway and this was full of
potholes, so bad, that we were driving most of the time on the wrong side like
everybody else. It was very difficult to overtake slow moving traffic, as we
were not sure if we would fall into a massive pothole again. We soon reached
the last stretch, which is about 75 km. We went from an altitude of 118 m to
1200 m. This drive was very scenic and beautiful, it is amazing the views we
saw, even though we did not have much time, to stop and admire, as we were on a
mission to reach Kohima before dark. “Yes” we just did that and checked into
our hotel.
